ANNAPOLIS, MD, July 30, 2019 — CYOA Yacht Charters, the Virgin Islands charter company with nearly 40 years of operations and Atlantic Cruising Yachts, North America’s largest Fountaine Pajot and Jeanneau dealership (“ACY”), have joined forces to expand their operations and offerings. Christian Bent, President of ACY, will acquire a partnership interest in CYOA, along with John Jacob, the President and current sole owner of CYOA. The new ownership group will contribute investment and working capital to expand the marketing and service operations and significantly increase the fleet capacity of CYOA.
“CYOA has built an impeccable reputation serving yacht owners and charter customers in the Virgin Islands charter market,” said Christian Bent. “We are excited to partner with a team that we consider to be the best in the business, to provide the highest standard of charter management and maintenance services in the Caribbean to our clients. CYOA will continue to raise the bar for the charter industry.”
Bent added that the new partnership will begin with a significant investment into expanding and improving the operations and facilities of CYOA’s current home charter base in Frenchtown, St. Thomas. Easy access and direct flights from many U.S. cities, a central location for chartering throughout the U.S., British and Spanish Virgin Islands, and the modern conveniences and infrastructure of a U.S. territory make St. Thomas the ideal spot to base charter operations.
CYOA has offered bareboat and skippered yacht charters for over three decades, operating out of the Frenchtown Harbor Marina and serving the British Virgin Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Spanish Virgin Islands. Owner John Jacob and his crew of experienced sailors and maintenance professionals have earned a reputation for excellence.

Research has confirmed what many boaters have already known – people feel happier on the water. It’s been shown that we experience increased serotonin at the mere sight of water. Now imagine the benefits when you have a 360-degree view of the blue from your very own yacht! Here are 4 ways owning a boat is good for your mental health:
1. Experience Nature
On a boat, you get to feel the sun on your skin and breathe the fresh air, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When you are one with your surroundings and truly experience the beauty of nature, everything else seems to melt away. Dr. Paul Piff, assistant professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, says that water is the number-one source of awe – that feeling of being connected to something larger than ourselves (Source: Greater Good Magazine). Awe is one of the few emotions that plants us in the present and increases emotional well-being and positive social behavior. So let yourself be immersed in nature as often as possible on a boat. The Atlantic Cruising Yachts team got an exclusive look at the highly anticipated Fountaine Pajot New 45 in Portugal this past week. One of our clients, Chris Braden, took a sea trial on the New 45 with us and recounted his experience:
“If I had to summarize the New 45 in one word it would be spacious (but not in a wide-hull-below-the-waterline kind of way). From the increase in storage compartments all over the boat, the open salon layout, to the expansive lounge deck – it’s easy to see this boat is designed with the concept of space throughout.
Having owned a Helia 44 Evolution, I can honestly say Fountaine Pajot has surpassed the Helia in every way with the New 45. The owner’s hull is very well thought out with compartments and lockers everywhere you turn. The new salon/galley layout really opens the space up and makes the interior feel like a much bigger boat! As a professional yacht delivery captain and sailor for nearly 50 years, I am often asked by new sailors, “What is the best sailboat on the market?”. This, of course, is a question everyone wants to know. My usual reply is, “The best boat on the market is the boat you will realistically use that you feel comfortable sailing.”
In order to select the best boat for you, is to truly and honestly assess what you will really use the boat for the majority of your time. So many people think they need a big boat that’s built for long range blue water sailing when they’ve yet to sail outside the local waters. To seek such a boat would probably quickly disappoint you.Continue Reading…

Purchasing a yacht requires a decent amount of research. Each buyer has specific, personal and logistical requirements for their yacht based on their sailing or motor experience. Working with a trusted yacht company, such as Atlantic Cruising Yachts, is the best way to ensure a smooth and enjoyable buying experience.
For Jake and Nancy Jacobson, their journey to new yacht ownership with us began in 2014. The Jacobsons met our team during the Annapolis Boat Show and from there decided to attend one of our Open House events. They ultimately decided to partner with us for their purchase because of our “supporting services and product”.
Jeanneau is making waves in the charter industry with the new walk-around decks on the Sun Odyssey line. With a lack of obstruction between the cockpit and the deck, there is more space for the captain and charter guests than ever before. The side decks slope down aft to the cockpit floor to eliminate the need to navigate coamings and biminis.
Because of the demands of these models in the charter industry, we are offering an exclusive special on the Sun Odyssey 410, 440, and 490* in partnership with our Waypoints® affiliate bases. For any of the three aforementioned yachts purchased for placement in the Business Yacht Ownership® program, Atlantic Cruising Yachts will advance and pre-pay 8 weeks of your charter income at settlement. This will be in the form of a check paid at settlement. Continue Reading…
