Sanibel and Captiva Islands are a perfect southwest Florida cruising destination for those looking for shelling, fishing, bird watching, or just relaxing. It can also be a romantic destination to hold a wedding or other special events with a beautiful landscape. With an east-west orientation, the beaches there are some of the most unique barrier islands in the world, as most have a north-south orientation.

The islands rank in the top of the best shelling beaches in the world because of its geography. It’s shaped in a curve along the coastline among other, more narrow islands. The curve acts like a shovel, scooping up all of the shells as they come in.
